Aubree Bernier-Clarke is a Los Angeles-based director and cinematographer. After spending the late '90s playing guitar in an all-girl band in her Kentucky hometown, she chased her riot grrrl dreams to Portland, OR where she spent seven years working with director Lance Bangs, and then two seasons as a camera operator on the IFC hit Portlandia. She has since focused on directing, creating music videos for the likes of Mirah and The Thermals and commercials for Levi's and Wildfang, among others.
Her first narrative film, Valencia, based on the novel by Michelle Tea, won the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at Chicago's Reeling Film Festival in 2013. Also in 2013, she was chosen to attend AFI's prestigious Directing Workshop for Women, through which she developed her first original short, The Night Is Ours.
